What sits on top of your Christmas tree?

We’ve had a few things… First year my fiancĂ© and I had a tree there was nothing, then the next year we progressed to a santa hat and last year we finally got a glittery star.

Favourite Christmas song?

Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You. The holidays don’t officially start until I’ve heard that song.

Favourite Christmas movie?

I love most Christmas movies so it’s super hard to pick one. I’d say it’s a 3 way tie between Home Alone, Elf and Christmas Vacation.

Favourite festive foodie treat?

All. Of. The. Food. I will literally eat everything anyone puts in front of me at Christmas. Especially pie.

The best part of Christmas is…

Seeing my family. Also, knowing the January sales are around the corner.

The worst part of Christmas is…

Looking at my bank balance and knowing the January sales are around the corner.

Your best, and worst, Christmas present?

The best Christmas Present I ever got was from my mom and step dad right before my first book came out. They donated a stack of books to a girl’s school in Africa in my name so they could learn to read and might one day read my book.

The worst… I actually haven’t ever got a bad Christmas present, mostly because my favourite part is opening it anyway. I love surprises.

When do you do your Christmas shopping?

If I’m organised, the 23rd of December, if I’m not it’s a mad panic on the morning of the 24th. I generally know well ahead of time what I want to get people so it doesn’t usually take that long.

Any Christmas Day traditions?

I always watch a movie on Christmas day.

Favourite Christmas book?

I know it’s for six year olds, but my favourite Christmas book has always been How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Favourite Christmassy book cover?

I love Linday Kelk’s I Heart Christmas cover because it does an amazing job of depicting the feeling of New York at Christmas.

Book sat at the top of your Christmas in July wishlist?

Christmas at Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop. I never got around to it last year, but determined to this year!

When did you find out Santa wasn’t real? Or is he real?

I’m 17 years older than my little sister, so Santa lasted much longer than in most households. I still get a present from him every year at my mom’s place and it’s always got glittery wrapping paper and a special nametag.

How would you spend your ideal Christmas?

My ideal Christmas would have snow and my family. I grew up in Canada and moved away almost 10 years ago so all I ever want s to see them. Last year was my first Christmas without snow and somehow it just doesn’t feel right without it.
