Hi, my name is Charlotte and I blog at Escapades of a Bookworm. I’m a law student trying to decide what area that I want to go into. I’ve loved book since I was very little and never ever go anyway without one. Which is a good thing because my TBR pile is far too big!
What sits on top of your Christmas tree?
An Angel :)
Favourite Christmas song?
This is a hard one, um, I think I will go for I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake (although according to google this isn’t a Christmas song – but what does google know!). I love this song because this is the one that my family sing at the top of our voices and the doggies are allowed on the sofa.
Favourite Christmas movie?
Ok this is even harder than the Christmas song. I actually cannot pick one! My sister and I normally have one day devoted to watching Christmas movies and the list is: Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday, Nativity, The Polar Express, White Christmas and Holiday Inn. There are more but I should probably stop now.
Favourite festive foodie treat?
I have two:
The first is pigs in blankets (chipolata sausages wrapped in streaky bacon) – we only get these on Christmas day and Boxing day and they are delightful, I could make my whole Christmas dinner about these…
The other is being able to make a Christmas sandwich, which is a white bap (bread roll) filled with some turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, and if there are left-over pigs in blankets you can cut in half and add them to sandwich, also you can add salad if you so desire, but it is Christmas…. It is gorgeous (my mouth may have watered at the thought of this, I really want one now).
The best part of Christmas is…
Everything! I love it all, seeing my family, the food, presents, more food. It’s a pretty perfect day and I wouldn’t change a thing.
The worst part of Christmas is…
For a moment I had a blank about the worse bit of Christmas – but it is probably Christmas eve when we’re preparing Christmas dinner and my Mum gets a bit stressed because there’s so much going on because we have all the family over, so dinner is for 15 people, there is cleaning to do (still!) and we have midnight mass to attend, and the Turkey doesn’t want to cook… or we’re missing something… probably food that was mistakenly eaten earlier in the day…
But it is almost a Christmas tradition, so it doesn’t really count, right?
Your best, and worst, Christmas present?
I feel mean saying this was my worst Christmas present because the thought was there – it was an electric toothbrush, so that I wouldn’t have to bring mine back from Uni each time I came home. See I lovely thought just I was disappointed (I’m a mean person!).
My best has to be from when I was seven, because it completely cemented my love of reading. I sent Father Christmas a list containing three items – a new bike, an amazing Amy doll and books. If I remember correctly I got around 40books that year, mainly consisting of Enid Blyton books and the Animal Ark series but Lucy Daniels. It was amazing!
When do you do your Christmas shopping?
About now! If I see something I think someone will like I will buy, otherwise I’ll rush around and end up buying something I don’t really like. Don’t worry I haven’t yet bought anything for this year, but it is time to start thinking…
Any Christmas Day traditions?
Ooh yes :) (Although we are quite relaxed in this house-hold) Most are in the morning. My sister and I normally wake up at 7.30 to open Father Christmas presents because he still comes to our house! And then we open more presents with the rest of the family who aren’t coming over. And then before lunch (which is when we have Christmas dinner) my day and I go to the pub to get for beer to take out for those who like beer. And spending far too long down there…
Favourite Christmas book?
My favourite Christmas book is A Christmas Feast by Katie Fforde because its full of short stories which are perfect to read when busy over the Christmas period :)
Favourite Christmassy book cover?
It has to be: Meet Me Under the Mistletoe by Abby Clements – the cover is really pretty and sparkly. This is a good cover for me!.
Book sat at the top of your Christmas in July wish-list?
I have quite a few books on my wish-list at the moment, but the one I’m going to go for is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins because I’ve seen so many good reviews for this book and the cover is gorgeous!
When did you find out Santa wasn’t real? Or is he real?
What are you talking about off course he is real! I found out when I was 11 but didn’t admit to it until I was 12, luckily my sister is a lot younger than me so he still pops over (Santa, if you are reading this of course I believe in you!)
How would you spend your ideal Christmas?
How I always do! I honestly would not change a thing :)

The best part of Christmas is…
That festive feeling you get and everything just feels happy and light.
The worst part of Christmas is…
When it’s over. Everything just feels so bare and flat.
Your best, and worst, Christmas present?
Argh don’t know, erm: best: a book from Folio Society. Worst: some mattifying papers for your face.
When do you do your Christmas shopping?
In November, but carries on through December
Any Christmas Day traditions?
Yes, we alternate who we have Christmas at. My Mum’s on even years, us on odd years. We also always open our presents from family after lunch.
