Harvey Young, rock star lead of the Scottish band Shaggy Maggie, has dreamed his whole life about the red-haired girl from the school bus that he bullied until she ran away. He's resigned himself to groupie fill-ins. There's no way he'll ever see her again. Why torture himself pining for his lost youth?

Magda Canady may be on the unlucky side, but her life is starting to work itself out. She's an editor for a New York Publishing company and her long-time lawyer boyfriend is taking her home to Scotland to meet the parents and his younger brother. But the trip holds more danger than she could have imagined. Between a psycho stalker and the boy who tortured her through high school, she might lose her mind - and her life - before it's all said and done.

When a chance encounter brings them together once more, it's the past, the present, and a little psychosis that may get in the way of the future that was always meant to be.

Review:

Shaggy Maggie was an intriguing book with a lot going on. It was non-stop entertainment and Tyffani Clark Kemp really did excel in writing a book I didn’t want to end.

I did panic a little bit when the book started with a guide to the Scottish words used in the book – even though I live in the UK and am used to some Scottish lingo, I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to keep going back to check what the characters were saying. However, it was all easy to read and follow so luckily it didn’t hinder the story for me.

I thought the characters were really well written too. Poor Magda, I could definitely relate to how much of a clutz she was! I loved Harvey too – I wasn’t sure if I was meant to or not at the beginning but his obvious feelings for Maggie were endearing and he was a rocker so what more was I after?!

The only main character I struggled to connect with was Beckman. I was always expecting a few more twists in his behaviour but as this is part of a series, I’m sure a lot of the things I weren’t sure about will be developed further.

Shaggy Maggie was a really enthralling book and one which didn’t feel predictable at all. I always wanted to know what was next and will definitely look forward to reading more from Tyffani Clark Kemp.
