Reviewed: The Boy at the Bakery by Katey Lovell

The Boy at the Bakery is book three in The Meet Cute series. It will be published by Harper Impulse on November 12, 2015.

Thanks to Katey for sending me a copy of this book to review.

The Boy at the Bakery was sweeter than sweet – it was a little treat of a short story – perfect for your tea break but don’t forget a slice of cake with that! This is the third meet-cute in Katey Lovell’s new series and it’s battling it out with The Boy in the Bookshop to be crowned my favourite. I just can’t pick! Books or cake? I’ll have a serving of both, please!

Lily is our main character here and we discover how she is finding herself at the bakery every day of the week. Not for the cakes (although her waistline is expanding with every visit) but because the boy behind the counter has caught her eye. I seriously thought Lily and Cole were the cutest thing ever! I swooned at them more than I swooned at the cakes lining the bakery – and that is quite something.

What I’ve loved about all of Katey’s short stories is her beautiful way with words. She has such a lovely way of describing things from appearances to settings and that, along with the way she sets the scene and creates a romance, feels simple, effortless and so appealing. The way she describes the bakery and Cole makes it so easy for the reader to imagine and understand why Lily is drawn to it – and that picture Katey created, for me, made this romantic short story a delight to read.

Super cute and romantic
