My First Blogiversary....

Back in September last year, I had the idea to start my own book blog. I had no idea what I was doing and no idea I'd still be blogging one year later. I just wanted a way to keep track of the books I'd read in a prettier and more personal way than simply leaving a review on Goodreads. Today's my first blogiversary (I did have to Google to find out how to spell that) and I'm not going to ramble, but thank you to everyone who reads/follows/comments/shares/puts up with me on Twitter and Facebook etc.

My blog is so close to 50,000 pageviews and that's pretty big considering I never thought anybody would read it. I've also just finished reading my 200th book over the past twelve months, which is more than I've read in my entire life. Blogging has helped me as a person a lot - the various book signings, launches and events has made me a lot more independent and braver and I've even been to London (which I dramatically know as "the scariest place in the world") a few times and I'm still alive. I might have even enjoyed myself once or twice. I never really understood how much of a community book blogging was until I got involved myself but I am truly grateful for all the lovely people I've met and friends I've made. You're all awesome.

I want to say a massive thank you to all the authors and bloggers who have donated prizes for my blogiversary giveaways. I was amazed by just how many people offered great prizes and for that reason, there'll be one new giveaway a day over the next month, with one final giveaway on my birthday - October 8. Most of them are international and there are some brilliant books, vouchers and goodies to be won so I hope you all keep coming back :)

Today's giveaway is for a £15 Amazon gift voucher (UK people) or a $20 Amazon voucher for people anywhere else in the world. I've no idea about working out currency values so I just guessed that £15 is near to $20. I could be wrong...

  • Hi Sophie,

Happy Birthday to 'Reviewed The Book' and long may it continue!

Fiction Books has been going for over 3 years now and I just can't believe the time has passed so quickly.

The upside are all the wonderful bloggers, readers, authors, bookshops and publishers, I have made firm online friends with .... The downside (if you can really call it that), is the totally addictive nature of it all. I am out working all day and then, as soon as dinner is done with, I am sat firmly at the keyboard until bedtime most nights .... Thanks goodness for an understanding and workaholic husband!

I hope that you are having a good weekend,

    Yvonne
