Reviewed: The Boy in the Bookshop by Katey Lovell

The Boy in the Bookshop is book one in The Meet Cute series. It will be published by Harper Impulse on October 29, 2015.

Thanks to Katey for sending me a copy of this book to review.

Ahhh – how could you not love this dreamy little short story? Katey Lovell’s The Boy in the Bookshop appealed to all my bookish senses. We had the gorgeous bookshop itself, Beautiful Books, and if that didn’t sound heavenly enough, we had the cute boy inside – the cute boy with a stack full of books. How close to perfect can you get? I was swooning all the way through!

It’s only a few pages long – the ideal coffee break read – and it’s such a sweet story, it left me with a big smile on my face. We get a quick insight into both main characters but it is enough, enough to make me feel for their story. I really liked Jade, the bookshop employee who we get to hear from in first person throughout. She was shy and sweet-natured, a really lovely main character.

Katey covered all the details I wanted to know and so I didn’t feel like anything was lacking. I enjoyed getting to know a bit about each character and I connected with them both easily. In turn, my focus was well and truly on the actual meet-cute, which was utterly adorable and romantic. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!

Short, sweet and perfectly formed

  2. This sounds like a lovely read, it reminds me a bit of The Bookshop on the Corner. I'll adding it to my goodreads list right now.
