Firstly thank you Sophie for sending me this fantastic book. I read so many great reviews of this book I was worried that it would not stand up to my expectations. I am so glad to say that it did and it is a book that I recommend that you read, in fact it needs to be put near the top of your tbr pile!

The book covers the story of three groups of people and their interaction with others. I wondered for quite a while how the characters were going to come together. Although you are wondering how the characters link it does not take away from the story and I was captivated from the first page. You become very involved with the characters’ lives and I was eager to hear the rest of their story.

Hallie is a 28 year old girl with cystic fibrosis who is progressively getting worse and is in desperate need of a lung transplant, as this is her only hope of living. She is lucky in the fact that she has great friends and a very understanding doctor. She lives with her mum who has dedicated her life to looking after her. You cannot help but feel sorry for Hallie and hope she gets the transplant even though it means the death of someone else. She seems full of spirit with a caring nature. Her way of describing herself sat in various locations whilst on the phone to her best friend Bea had me smiling, whilst really she was sat in bed or the house hooked up to her oxygen tank. She is always trying to help others with her advice and doesn’t use her illness as an excuse.

Then there is Flo and Zander. These two meet when Flo is given the responsibility of looking after Zander’s grandmother’s cat for its life time. With the duty comes the flat the grandmother owned until the cat dies. Zander’s sister Lena is not very happy about the situation and tries to have the will changed. Both Flo and Zander are likeable characters and I really found myself wanting Flo to beat Lena at her own game. Zander is unlike his sister and has not airs and graces.

Then lastly there is the characters of Tasha “the bin girl” and a stranger she meets on Christmas eve who catches her attention and imagination. The only problem is she is quiet and prefers museums and shopping and Rory, the stranger, is outgoing and likes daredevil activities. Can opposites really be good together?

I don’t want to tell you anymore than these details as it will give too much away. I will say that the story line is captivating and the chapters short and snappy. Hence this is why I could not put the book down and read it on every occasion, finishing it within 24 hours. Jill Mansell you never fail to please and I am already looking forward to your next book.
