Review:
I’ve never really read a book about love conflicted with religion. Not that I stay away from these kind of stories but I don’t know a whole lot about any religion so feel I’d find it hard to understand and relate.
However, with Destiny, Cindy Ray Hale made it such an easy read. She taught me about Christianity, and how things are different for Mormons and a lot of other things I didn’t know. Yet it didn’t feel like I was reading a lecture on religion as instead the story flowed really well and I grew to love it.
I really liked the character of Destiny. At times she was reserved and quiet and then there were other times when she’d really stand up for what she believed in and I thought the way her character was developed throughout really got me on her side.
I also loved how Cindy Ray Hale developed the character of Isaac. I’m not sure if people will have mixed feelings on him, because there’s times when I found him a bit of a jerk and other times when I thought he was sweet. But I loved his complicated character.
There were some other really interesting characters too, such as Michael and Preston. The author definitely develops characters and their personalities well. I just wanted to learn about them all.
I can’t really think of much I didn’t like about Destiny. At times I did find it a little slow and maybe would have liked a bit more to be going on, but then I never really lost interest.
Okay, at times it was a little bit mushy and predictable. But I kinda like reading mushy and predictable.
Overall, it was a really well written, emotional book which had me interested and immersed right from the beginning the whole way through. Destiny is not a book to be missed.
